Book A Fishing Charter On The Niagara River & Great Lakes
Are you ready for an unforgettable fishing adventure? At Angler’s Edge Outdoors, we offer premium fishing charters on the beautiful Niagara River, renowned for its stunning scenery and diverse fish species. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first-time fisher, our experienced guide Captain Joe Srouji is here to ensure you have an incredible day on the water.
Fishing Charters on the Niagara River are second to none, Arguably one of the best fresh water fisheries in the country. Because it doesn't freeze we are able to target both warm and cold water species as the seasons change. This give us the ability to target fish in a variety of different ways such as drifting, trolling, casting and jigging. The Niagara River connects Lake Erie to Lake Ontario and is referred to as Upper Niagara and Lower Niagara. Anything below Niagara Falls is considered Lower Niagara and anything above Niagara Falls is considered Upper Niagara. For more information on what type of fish we target visit our Fish Species page.
Niagara Falls was formed more than 12,000 years ago at the end of the Ice Age when large torrents of water were released from the melting ice, draining into the Niagara River. The water then made it's way over the edge of the Niagara Escarpment – to what is now known as Lewiston, NY. If you consider it just in volume of water, Niagara Falls is moving between 750,000 to 1,000,000 gallons of water every second. Waters are slowed down in the off season like fall and winter due to lack of tourism which is great for us as we are able to fish in much slower water as our fall and winter trout fishing heats up. Vertical jigging is my absolute favorite way to fish in both cold and warm seasons. The current on the Niagara River works as mother natures trolling motor. It moves us along to cover as much water as we want while using a bow mounted electric motor to slow us down or in some cases speed us up. With state of the art electronics I am able to dial my clients in on an incredible jig bite for Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Lake Trout and Brown Trout. I also offer night fishing charters jigging for walleye from end of July through end of September. CLICK HERE to watch at night time walleye charter.
From Devils Hole to Fort Niagara on the lower river. And from the Peace Bridge down to Niagara Falls just up from Goat Island on the upper river. We can drift both live and artificial bait to target bass, walleye, trout, salmon. This type of fishing is great for beginner anglers who are just starting to get into fishing. The river does the work for you as we bounce our baits on the bottom at a controlled speed using a bow mounted trolling motor to adjust our drift speed accordingly. Your Captain will take care of everything for you and instruct you step by step on what to do. Once you get the hang of maintaining constant contact with bottom its game on or might I say Fish On. Trolling the Niagara River is a deadly way to target predatory fish like walleye, trout, salmon and bass. We troll things like worm harnesses and plugs like Kwik Fish or Mag Lips. This is a super easy way for our clients that want to sit back relax and catch fish. We move along slightly faster than the current using a bow mounted electric motor to speed us up. The above picture shows a trout and bass double header caught using plugs. You just never know what you'll hook into while fishing with us. Certain times of the year offer us a chance to catch trophy size fish in shallow water. Casting soft plastics, stick baits and crank baits in the Spring time in waters ranging from 6 to 15 feet in depth can be very productive for big bass. This period is catch and release only and artificial lures only. Aggressive bass can be found along the river shoreline. Just let the boat drift and pitch around using various types of retrieves to crush giant smallmouth bass. As we get closer to fall casting plastics on a slow retrieve can yield giant walleye hook ups early morning and late evening.
